Mahaffey designs its structures for quick and easily assembly. There is no welding, cutting, or on-site fabrication. Everything is manufactured for portability, and the structure itself can be assembled with common hand tools such as wrenches.
Smaller structures are raised into position with simple manpower - the perfect union of lightweight components forming the strongest portable shelter. Larger structures require the use of forklifts or cranes to lift into position. All structures are made to be installed at the rate of 10,000 sq ft per day - 5 times more quickly than other fabric-clad buildings.
Mahaffey uses a state-of-the-art washing system to maintain clean fabric structures. The centerpiece of the system is a computer controlled washing machine that measures a gargantuan 6 feet wide, 22' long and 15' tall. This machine can wash, dry, and wax 1,650 sq ft of fabric in 15 minutes. And the machine barely sips water. It can wash a football field-size piece of fabric consuming only 52 gallons of water. A typical home washing machine uses 55 gallons in one load.
As the fabric is processed, two Mahaffey crew members inspect every piece of fabric. Defects are quickly repaired, and the refurbished fabric sections are ready to be deployed again.
Mahaffey Fabric Structures prides itself on manufacturing and leasing structures that require virtually no maintenance. Over time though, the fabric can become dusty or dirty. Structures in Mahaffey's leasing inventory undergo a rigorous 3-point inspection between uses. At our headquarters building Mahaffey cleans every piece of fabric using a massive washing / drying system. This detailed process insures that every piece of frame and fabric is job ready when it arrives on site.
Our semi-permanent structures are no different than any other building that needs occasional maintenance. Cut or punctured fabric can be quickly and easily repaired in the field. When more intricate repairs are necessary, Mahaffey's innovative keder design allows a single roof section to be removed or replaced. Some of the advantages of our structures-compared to others-are as follows:
- The aluminum frame does not need to be adjusted or loosened to remove a roof panel.
- A single roof section can be removed, working solely from the exterior of the structure. Other manufacturers require the whole roof section be replaced and frequently disrupt operations within the structure.
- Rips or tears in the PVC fabric can be easily repaired with a heat gun. Patching woven polyethylene material used by other manufacturers is extremely difficult due to its tendency to melt under exposure to high heat.
