In terms of speedy disaster relief needs, Mahaffey offers the optimum
combination of vast experience and a large inventory of portable buildings. Access to adequate shelter
is key to survival in emergency situations. We offer temporary shelters including sleep
structures, portable shower trailers, and on-site catering - all self-contained with on-site
generators and water supplies. These products are immediately available for rent or
lease for all emergency, life support and humanitarian activities. Of course, we also sell
these structures for use overseas, or for long-term needs where a purchase can be cost justified.
Mahaffey has perfected our disaster relief products by field-testing them with Army
units training for overseas missions. Military applications typically use temporary "cities" -
each equipped to feed and house 1,600 soldiers. A typical site includes 8 temporary barracks
with cots to accommodate 200 people each. Each temporary barracks building is equipped
with a raised wood sub-floor, HVAC, lighting, power outlets, and a full life safety package.
A dining / recreation facility is also set on-site, with mobile kitchens set in place to service two
cities simultaneously. In most cases, we also establish mobile 2,000 - 3,000 sq.
ft. command
centers with additional electric capability to serve office computers & copiers. Several times
a year, we establish temporary housing sites for 5,000 or more people. To do so in just a
matter of days requires us to work with trusted subcontractors for some components. We
operate seamlessly with a specialist in remote site catering to provide rapid response from
coast to coast. |

On a smaller scale, Mahaffey is ready to respond to the immediate need for crises shelter.
Weather related disasters such as hurricanes or ice storms require mobile command centers
and temporary cafeterias for relief personnel. We have many smaller shelters that can be
loaded and dispatched to be on site in only hours. After Hurricane Andrew hit Homestead,
Florida, Mahaffey assisted AT&T in establishing a long-distance call center. Mahaffey set up
an 82' x 82' structure for AT&T so that stricken residents could call their loved ones free of
charge. The logo emblazoned shelter remained in place for several months.
