Temporary transportation terminal storage and
temporary shelters, whether for air, sea or rail, can be provided
by our portable temporary fabric shelters.
A portable transportation terminal can be utilized when additional
space, temporary shelters or temporary emergency logistics are
needed to combat long lines because of stricter security measures
at boarding checkpoints or when industrial temporary shelter
is needed.
Mahaffey Fabric Structures first installed a temporary
shelter for use as a terminal for arriving athletes at the 1996
Atlanta Olympic games. The 100'x400' structure was fully equipped
with an automatic sprinkler system, luggage carousels, baggage
counters and security checkpoints. Arriving athletes received
their credentials, had their photos taken and awaited transportation
to their quarters. After the games, they repeated the process,
enjoying both security and protection from the elements.
In Mobile, Alabama, Mahaffey installed a cruise
ship terminal where none previously existed. Over a 2-month
period, the portable structure served as the Mobile boarding
terminal for Carnival Cruise Lines. The temporary terminal
proved that Mobile, Alabama, was accepted by the public and
an economically viable port of call. An interesting detail
about this seaside port is that the fabric-covered structure
was kept comfortable with the addition of two of Mahaffey's
20' diameter ceiling fans. These monstrous fans reduced the
interior temperature 6 - 8°F.
Mahaffey is ready to quickly respond to any need
for temporary terminal storage or temporary shelters using
a portable structure. Whether it is located at an airport,
a seaside port, or along existing rail lines, Mahaffey can
help install an industrial temporary shelter or restore a
terminal facility to service. Our crews are equipped to work
where existing infrastructure has been damaged or doesn't
exist (think about catastrophic weather or acts of terrorism). |
